This is such a cute trend, that I just had to blog about it. Not something I have come across or heard about in the UK but for those that like to find out and share it, this is such a special way!
It’s a super-unique way for parents-to-be to share the moment they find out the gender of their (unborn) child with family and friends.
It’s perfect for baby showers, as well as a fun way to let Grandparents in on the secret.
Here is how it works:
Parents –to-be who wish to find out the gender of their child before he or she is born simply asks the doctor to put the gender details in a sealed envelope and you take this with you to the baker who is preparing your cake – don’t be tempted to open it now! The baker then prepares the cake, adding either pink or blue food colouring to the cake mix and then frosting cake as normal.
No one knows the gender of the child-to-be (except said baker) until the cake is cut and then everyone finds out together. It’s such a heartfelt idea….I love it!
Cupcakes are another great idea, as then each family member and friend gets to bite into the SURPRISE at the same time!
A little video of a ‘reveal’ I found on YouTube:
